Member of the year

School comes to an end on Thursday, and the week is filled with events and celebrations to cap a successful year. Today, the entire elementary school gathered for the annual spring assembly.

Bryan, Tom and I were on hand, having received some advance notice of Olivia’s achievement—kindergarten member of the year in her after school program. Despite winning member of the week a record-breaking number of times, I think she was still pretty surprised!

The program coordinator read a few lovely remarks about her, noting her sense of humor, positive attitude and relentless love the monkey bars (with the blisters to show for it).

Congrats, Livie Lou Who!

A high-five from the program director…

And a hug (and a $50 gift card!) from Principal Tann.

  2. This absolutely made me cry. Olivia’s odd expression while receiving the award made me laugh. It must be awkward to be told you’re great in front of such a great assemblage. This is so great!

Olivia, such a nice honor! Papa and I are so proud of you. It’s hard not to smile when I think of you, because you almost always have a smile on your face. You are a very thoughtful, smart, funny, well-behaved and entertaining little girl — and obviously, others think that, too. We love you!

Olivia was such a perfect young lady during the ceremony. She came to the back and gave all three of us hugs right after. First time for me in Quail Run during normal school hours and what a really neat assembly complete with Big Jay, a farewell to the principal and great words the whole school heard about a special six-year old.

Congratulations Olivia!!!! What an honor! We’re so proud of you–it’s not news to us that you are special–so it’s nice to know that others recognize that too!!!
