Last weekend, I was searching for an appetizer that would showcase garden cherry tomatoes. I found this recipe for Ricotta with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes on Crostini on Martha Stewart.
Perhaps not surprisingly, I didn’t have smoked ricotta on hand, nor did I have the time to wait for it to arrive from the recommended online gourmet grocer, but a splash of liquid smoke seemed to the do the job. This dish is simple but inspired, and I think this might be one of my new favorite recipes.

Sounds like a great recipe! I’ve been making Inside-Out BLTs: http://www.bhg.com/recipe/vegetables/inside-out-blts/ and your Cream Cheese Stuffed (Sweet) Banana Peppers (with spicy sausage instead of bacon) for appetizers on the deck this summer. Both are big hits and easy to do outdoors — at 400 degrees on the pellet grill for 15 mins/30 mins respectively.

Oh, I am so glad you mentioned that pepper recipe, Mom! I totally forgot about it. I was just standing at the fridge wondering what to do with all the peppers we have from the CSA.

We canned several pints of Subway-style sweet banana pepper rings a couple weeks ago. That’s a possibility if you have a whole bunch of them. Let me know if you want the recipe. They’re easy to do.
