Suet to it
When Josh was here for Ava’s party, he stirred up a big pot of homemade suet using peanut butter, lard, oatmeal and birdseed. Bryan recently set it out for the birds (and the squirrels), and it was incredibly popular. Thanks, Josh!

Olivia Fix
Olivia has been feeding herself for a very long time, but she’s using utensils more and more. It was at about this age that Ava did, too. I’m not sure which one was messier.

Homework help
Ava has to round up a number of things that start with the letter “Y” for homework this week. We have yarn, but that’s it. Any ideas? (Bryan’s yo-yo is at work…)
Oh! Yeast. That will work.
What else?

Ava Fix
We’ve been promising Ava snow all week. She was not quite as pleased with the sheet of ice, but it was still a good excuse to play outside. And, there’s still a few inches of snow forecast for this morning. She’s not out of luck yet!

This seems unnecessary.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of northeast Kansas. The weather service is predicting heavy snow — perhaps between 8 and 14 inches — along and south of the Kansas Turnpike Friday night through Saturday.

Good company
In celebration of Ava’s birthday weekend, we had a number of family members come down to stay with us. Jess arrived on Thursday afternoon and immediately set to work making favors and decorating cookies.

Katie, Mom and Dave arrived that afternoon…

And Doug, Karyl, Gramma and Grampa arrived late in the day.

Josh and Laura joined us that night, too. We had a full team on deck for Saturday morning party preparations, which included taming the wildlife…

Mixing bloody marys…

Entertaining the children…

Setting the tables…

And cleaning the kitchen repeatedly.

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you have such willing partners!
