Owen & August

Overheard

Rebecca, while prying Owen’s hand out of the dog’s mouth (again): “Owen, can you PLEASE leave August alone?”

Owen: “He really wants to snuggle with me!”

Rebecca: “He doesn’t; he’s biting.”

Owen: “He wants to snuggle me with his teeth.”

Double trouble

August gets a bad rap for being bitey, but this weekend I saw Owen pry open the pup’s mouth, insert his hand, and then complain about what happened next. Not sure which of our toddlers is the most challenging…

Owen fix

Look at this little big kid.

Overheard

Owen: “I’m not gonna brush my teeth anymore. I’m just not.”

Overheard

Owen, directly into the ear of a sleeping dog: “August! AUGUST!! Oh, you’re alive. Good dog.”

Outsourcing

Had a little help with dinner prep last night. (It’s FINE, Mom. I promise!)

Owen fix

“I have a baby in my tummy also [just like Aunt Katie!!].”

And, of course, August. Because when you have a giant (wet) puppy, it’s hard to ignore.

He’s making a list

Reindeer games

Owen’s caught the holiday spirit–bouncing around singing carols while pleading to open presents. He’s watched Home Alone far too many times and can’t wait for the grandparents to arrive. Today, he helped me mix up a batch of reindeer food, and promised a batch of cookies for Santa, too.
