73 pounds of pumpkin later…

There was a reason we went to the pumpkin patch without Bryan, as he just doesn’t understand the need for more than one pumpkin. The girls and I traipsed through the patch, picking the prettiest we could find.

Olivia’s lovie caught in the vines repeatedly, and at one point, she said, “Help! There’s a pumpkin in my way!” We took the offending pumpkin home, of course.

It took us a bit of time to load ourselves onto the hay rack, given our haul.

As the hayrack ride continued, Olivia sang the cow song (loud lyrics include: “The cow song, the cow song, the cow song, the cow song”), the pig song (“The pig song, the pig song, the pig song, the pig song”), the pumpkin song, the bird song and the farm song, among others. I think you can guess the lyrics to those as well.

Ava was most proud of her large, orange pumpkin, which I think will make a great jack-o-lantern in a few weeks.

I love the green and cream varieties myself.

It doesn’t really look like 73 pounds, does it?!

Sliding into fall

While Bryan checked out downtown Denver with David and Tom this weekend, the girls and I celebrated the first weekend of what might actually be fall.

The weather was cool, the apples were ready and the pumpkin patch was open.

This is my favorite season, and I’m coming off a very hectic time at work. I felt so free come Sunday I nearly took a trip down this slide myself. It’s going to be a great month!

A&O Fix

As I was saying something about how sweet the girls were, Bryan reminded me that he took these photos VERY early in the morning.

“Look, Mama, I’m Sweeping Booty.”

Olivia’s big find

Olivia was the first one out the door this morning, and when she rounded the car, she started yelling, “Oh! Look, a turtle! GET IT, DADDY!”

I have to admit I thought she had confused her animals, but she was right—there was a box turtle slowing making his way across the driveway. Bryan scooped him up so the girls could get a closer look.

After a few moments, Bryan carried him to the yard and pointed him in the right direction. He’s one of the nicer visitors we’ve had as a result of the waterway behind the house.

Sweets for the sweet

It’s hard to appreciate just how “mini” these cupcakes really are…

…until you gain a bit of perspective:

I wish I could claim credit for them, but they came from “Cutie’s” kitchen, with a bit of assistance from Ava, of course.

Bedhead baby

That is some serious bedhead, Liv. Impressive, no?

Olivia is not exactly what you’d call a morning person. She regularly tries to talk us into more sleep (or at least more cuddling) come 7:30 am. She’s not a big fan of getting dressed, and she will scream and hide if you come at her with a hairbrush.

Of course, that last part probably isn’t too surprising.

For a rainy day

The day, which got off to a very soggy start, is ending with dramatic thunderstorms.

Despite a pledge to do more on the storm front this summer, an extremely busy work schedule kept me at my desk today.

How’s the weather where you are?
