Billions and billions

Olivia: “Mom, did you know there are more than two thousand stars in the sky? It’s true! There are two thousand and five billion.”

Overheard

Olivia: “Did you know that trees have tiny, green trunks when they are born?”

Fall arrives

We woke to chilly temperatures Sunday, but by noon, it was clear, sunny and nearly 80 degrees. Tom and Katie accompanied us to the pumpkin patch (as did Bryan, though Ava noted I’d prefer he’d have stayed at home: “You buy A LOT more pumpkins when Dad’s not along.”) Halloween decorations are up (as is our fall task list) and we’re looking forward to the best season of the year!

These silly girls celebrated Thursday’s much needed rain with a crazy dance in the front yard.

Summer sisters

It might be September, but it feels more like July. At least there’s football…!

Grampa Great

We spent Labor Day welcoming overnight guests, hosting a party for friends, carting kids to gymnastics and a birthday celebration, and THEN driving to my mom’s for what was left of the long weekend. While the visit was short, it was indeed sweet. Olivia especially appreciated some time with Grampa Great (who, I think it’s safe to say, is even more beloved than that favorite, raggedy blanket).

Overheard: Timeout edition

Olivia: “I need a cup.”

Rebecca: “Olivia, that wasn’t very polite. Can you please say that in a different way?”

Olivia: “Simon says, ‘Get me a cup.'”

Olivia update

Kindergarten is going well! There seems to be a fair amount of coloring coming home each day, but last night’s parents meeting brought a promise for new reading and math groups starting next week. Livie’s made a few new friends and loves her teacher.

When I picked her up yesterday, she was one tooth short. I imagine she was the talk of the classroom this morning—this is big news in Kindergarten.
