Double trouble

August gets a bad rap for being bitey, but this weekend I saw Owen pry open the pup’s mouth, insert his hand, and then complain about what happened next. Not sure which of our toddlers is the most challenging…

Happy Valetine’s Day

Overheard

Owen, directly into the ear of a sleeping dog: “August! AUGUST!! Oh, you’re alive. Good dog.”

“I have a baby in my tummy also [just like Aunt Katie!!].”

And, of course, August. Because when you have a giant (wet) puppy, it’s hard to ignore.

After a week of pajama days, the break is just about over.

Christmas pup

Our yellow dog is settling in, growing bigger with every passing day. He’s not quite as calm as he was when we brought him home this time last month (and he’s developed an unfortunate liking for high heels), but he’s sweet with the kids and pretty darn cute.

Owen and August

Owen is pretty sure that August is his, and his alone.

August comes home

Ava’s multi-year campaign to get a dog was finally successful. Don’t tell her this, but essentially, she wore us down. Of course, it helped that the perfect pup came available.

Augustus is Great Pyrenees and Yellow Lab–smart and sweet and calm. He’s three months old, and we love this big guy like crazy.

Ava’s taking on a bulk of responsibility, but the rest of us are enjoying taking care of him, too. He might be just what we needed.
