Before…

Karyl asked about Owen’s curls below, so I thought I’d share a recent, pre-haircut photo. They were getting just a bit wild, and so a trim seemed in order. I am happy to note, though, Owen’s hair did retain some wave, especially at the nape of his neck. And, as Diane said (with a barely contained note of sadness), “Well, I suppose they will grow back…”

Curls

Seriously.

As I was contemplating text for a Facebook post about Owen, I asked Bryan his opinion. Ava offered her advice, which was, “You want to say, ‘LOOK AT MY CUTE BABY, WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HIS CUTE DAD,’ but without bragging.”

Exactly.

Grampa Great

We spent Labor Day welcoming overnight guests, hosting a party for friends, carting kids to gymnastics and a birthday celebration, and THEN driving to my mom’s for what was left of the long weekend. While the visit was short, it was indeed sweet. Olivia especially appreciated some time with Grampa Great (who, I think it’s safe to say, is even more beloved than that favorite, raggedy blanket).

Ava fix

Ava helped her good friend Aubrey celebrate her ninth birthday this weekend. These little girls are growing up!

Olivia: “I need a cup.”

Rebecca: “Olivia, that wasn’t very polite. Can you please say that in a different way?”

Olivia: “Simon says, ‘Get me a cup.'”
