May flowers

I planted several flowers before Ava’s birthday, but they succumbed to a late frost. I finally managed to plant a few new things this weekend, thanks to Gramma Great, who provided many new pots, and to Ava, who helped quite a bit!

I bought flats and flats of deer-resistant annuals for the new flower beds a couple of weeks ago, only to have some of them flattened by the dual-wheeled dump truck bringing in fill dirt to level the yard for the retaining wall project.

Amazing enough, they look like they are going to survive the dump truck. Whether they survive the deer remains to be seen!

Deer resistant??? What are they?? That is my goal this year – to fill up the yard with things that won’t end up getting eaten! BTW, Rebecca, your plantings are beautiful!

So pretty! What are the blue flowers in the last picture?

Glad to see the pots and baskets are being used–better than sitting on the basement shelf, collecting dust! The flowers are so pretty!

  5. Everything looks so pretty, Rebecca! I want to do some planters for our back patio, but it barely gets any sun. Do you have any recommendations on shade-loving annuals?
