In the last two weeks we had yellow warblers, Nashville warblers, and yellow-rumped warblers traveling through and a few more I couldn’t identify. A rose-breasted grosbeak arrived yesterday at the feeders and was here tonight. Two house wrens have occupied our wren house recently. We’ve had a few brown thrashers near our garden.
Also, scissor-tailed flycatchers have arrived outside where I work.
The dark-eyed juncos and white throated sparrows have moved on.

I love this time of year – especially because of the birds! We have most of our regular spring birds back now – still have not seen an Indigo bunting, scarlet tanager – or a common Yellow Warbler – but we have pretty much documented the rest of them. Dad is busy filling the jelly and orange feeders for the Orioles and Catbirds. The wrens and bluebirds are busy building nests. Hummingbirds are here, as are the brown thrashers, the grosbeaks, lots of cedar waxwings, and white throated sparrows. We even have spotted Red Headed Woodpeckers in our backyard – very unusual, as in the past, have only seen them on the posts along the road. Vic and Keni cut out all that good bird habitat in the field next to ours – so they must be looking for some nesting spots. Sure hope they decide they like it here!
