More fall color…the only comforting thought about leaving Minnesota is that we’ll be able to experience fall all over again. If it’s half this beautiful here, we’ll be fortunate.

Great composition on the shots with the pathways. They lead your eye – and your spirit – to some place out of the frame.

There’s something kind of sad about these Northern shots. So much tradition and beauty but so much feeling that the years pass all too quickly.

You know, I had a really hard time leaving this year. I think it’s in part because I felt like this was the first time Ava really stood to understand what a special place it is.
And, I suppose because being up there during fall reminds me of our trips when I was a kid.
I can remember my dad singing this made-up song, “I don’t want to go home…” and having to walk down by the lake just one more time before we left each year. It really is in my blood.
Also, the 30th of anything seems remarkable. Even Bry’s been going for more than decade. In a way, it feels like home. It’s hundreds of miles away from the address on my mortgage statement, but this has been one of the few constants in my life, no matter what the circumstances. No matter where I live or what is going on, it’s always there.
Just a few ramblings I wasn’t going to post….didn’t want anyone to think I was a total sap. 😉
