Making mountains out of molehills

I finally pulled my bike out of storage. (Well, to be exact, I asked Bry to drag it up the basement steps, air up the tires and remind me how to work the gears.)

Still, though, my $89.99 Target special, which hasn’t seen daylight since about 2003, is completely accessible and ready to ride. I even took it for a quick spin Monday night.

I look forward to riding it again.

In 2013.

Yay for biking. Wish we were in the same place to take a ride together. 🙂

I don’t get it. I think I’m just not a born biker. It still hurts to sit down and it’s been three days! Between the ridiculous seat cover and my own natural padding, I should not be so…bruised.

I think my seat may have cost more than your whole bike… I am not putting down your bike, but there is something to be said for investing in a comfortable seat. It can really make the ride (and the next three days) more enjoyable.

You know, I should have known that. I bought on for Bry that was about the same, if I remember correctly. It seems wrong to put a $100 seat on a $90 bike. Maybe I could find a nice used bike next spring.

The other parts that make bikes expensive (fancy shifters, fancy brakes, lighter frame, smoother tires, etc.) probably aren’t worth your money– new or used. As a recreational riders, the seat makes or breaks the whole experience. Once you buy a good seat, then you can move it to a nicer bike if you choose to do so down the line.

Can I just borrow Bryan’s seat for awhile, or do I need a woman’s seat? I think his is cut specifically for…er…a man.
