A Day’s Work

Bry snapped this photo outside this morning as I was leaving. The web is anchored from points about six feet apart. It looked incredible covered with dew.

Incredible! Spiders have been making webs in the side mirrors of our car; they’re very persistent!

Isn’t that just incredible! I think of Charlotte’s web every time I see a web now – thanks to the grandkids, I have been watching Jason’s very favorite story ( as a young little kid)!

I’m such a wimp but I try not to damage any spider webs and feel badly when I accidentally do – or have to because it’s just in the way. I feel like the spider went to so much trouble – who am I to ruin her masterpiece?

Plus, there’s a life and death battle going on. Lack of success with the web leads to lack of reproductive success and even starvation. When I mow, at certain times of the summer, I see thousands of spider webs in the grass. I picture the afterlife as a place where the insects and all the other creatures I’ve abused get even.

Oh I am a horrible person, I do not leave webs anywhere because spiders scare me to death.
