A fledgling Carolina Wren perched on the deck, with her mom nearby.
We’ve had a pair of Carolina Wrens since we moved in here a couple of years ago. It’s nice to see they’ve added to their family!

Here’s the first melon from our garden. It was small, but sweet.

When I set the table for dinner tonight, I was surprised to realize how much of it was from our garden–the pesto, the tomatoes, the cantaloupe and the herbs.
We haven’t had any large tomatoes yet, but we’re planning BLTs (like Laura, with avocado) using tomatoes from my friend Dawn’s garden.
Olivia’s too little for fresh tomatoes (I think the acidity makes them allergenic or something like that), but the kid loves pesto.
