Outdoor (still) life

I don’t remember seeing these flowers here last spring, but I absolutely love them. We unknowingly covered this area with about six inches of new mulch, but they managed to work their way through.

I think they’re called grape hyacinth–maybe one of the moms will know for sure. We had a patch of them on the farm where I grew up–their diminutive size made for perfect Barbie bouquets.

What beautiful photos! Thank you! We have some cropping up outside in places I don’t remember seeing it last year, too. Strange…

Yes, grape hyacinth. Aren’t they pretty? The ones on the farm were probably there decades before you plucked them for Barbie bouquets.

The prettiest flowering bulbs I have seen this spring are a clump of very petite daffodils . . . there must be 15 tiny, tiny blooms in a cluster about 6″ tall and 8″ in diameter. I’m tempted to “borrow” a few of the bulbs! I’ve never seen anything like them before. . . does anyone have any information about them?
