Happy birthday, Ava!

Ava officially turned three today. She took chocolate chip cookies to preschool, and despite the fact that she said her “feelings hurt” because I had to go to work, she actually had a great day without any tears.

Tonight we took her out to dinner for macaroni and cheese. The servers sang “Happy Birthday” and brought her a huge dessert. When we got home, she opened one last present–the kite she’s had her eye on for weeks.

There were a couple of slight kite-related catastrophes…

But Ava recovered very quickly and had a great night. Thank goodness the terrible twos are a thing of the past!

Why is the kite in the tree, and why is her lip bloody???

It was really windy (it’s always windy in Kansas, it seems). It came down with no problem, though. Ava hit her lip as she was climbing on the big rock in our yard–she wanted to fly with the kite!

Such a sad face for a birthday girl! Glad the rest of the day went well!

It was really only a brief moment–I promise! She was totally fine, if not a tad dramatic. I just thought it was a funny photo.

Great photos! I love the one where Bryan is flying the kite and she’s running beneath it. It really captures the action! Happy Birthday, sweet Ava!!

I forgot to ask if the kite survived? I hope so!
