In a frantic attempt to convince Ava that she’d be fine without us as she started preschool a couple of weeks ago, I wrote her a little note to tuck into her pocket. I told her she could take it out and look at it when she missed us.
One day last week, she asked if I’d write her another little note “for when I miss you today.” So, I took a little piece of paper and wrote, “Be a big girl today–no tears! We love you, Mommy and Daddy.” I folded it in half and put it in her coat pocket.
When she came home that night, she sat down, took off her shoe and pulled this out–
She’d walked around on it all day. I guess, though, it makes sense–without a pocket, where’s a girl supposed to stash love notes?
